While your home is the best place for your four-legged friends, you need a steady supply of pet food to keep them there. Sometimes affording pet food can be a struggle. That’s where Cedar Rapids AniMeals may be able to help. If you or someone you know has difficulty affording food for a dog or a cat, you may qualify to receive a free monthly donation of dry pet food. And good news – we deliver!

Do I Qualify for Free Pet Food?

You qualify to get free food for up to two dogs or cats if you live in Cedar Rapids, Marion or Hiawatha AND you meet at least one of the following criteria:

You receive Social Security benefits.
You receive disability benefits.
You receive a referral from a caseworker who works for one of the following referring agencies.

How Do I Apply?

Fill out our online application or ask your caseworker to apply for you. If we approve your application, we’ll call and tell you when to expect your first delivery. If your application isn’t approved, you’ll receive a letter notifying you.

Pet Food Deliveries

A volunteer will deliver food for up to two cats or dogs to your home each month, usually between the 7^th and 14^th day. Expect about enough food to last four weeks. If your supply runs out early, you must find additional pet food on your own.

You can keep receiving food as many months as you need it, as long as you follow Cedar Rapids AniMeals rules and continue to meet our qualifications.

Program Rules

Once you join our program, you may not take on any more pets. If you add another pet of any kind to your home, we’ll stop delivering food.
The food you get each month depends on what Cedar Rapids AniMeals has received from donors.
Unfortunately, we cannot provide cat litter, pet supplies or veterinary care. We provide only dry food for cats and dogs.
When you join Cedar Rapids AniMeals, you’ll receive a full list of rules that you must read and follow to remain in the program.
